Privacy Policy
How MovieWall collects, uses, shares and protects personal data.
Last updated July 30, 2026
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
MovieWall is an independently operated movie discovery and tracking service. This policy explains how MovieWall handles personal data in the iPhone app.
For privacy questions or requests, contact info@moviewallapp.com.
2. Data we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide, secure and improve MovieWall.
- Account data: email address, internal account ID, authentication provider and login information. Apple may provide a private relay email when you use Sign in with Apple.
- Profile data: display name, permanent username, MovieWall ID, selected bundled avatar, country, favorite movie, favorite genres, short bio and privacy choices.
- Movie activity: Seen, Watchlist and Unseen choices, swipe actions, favorites, personal ratings and the statistics and recommendations derived from them.
- Social and safety data: follows, follow requests, profile visibility, blocks, reports and the information needed to investigate a report.
- Support data: the subject and message you choose to send, together with basic account details so we can reply.
- Technical and security data: IP address, device or browser information, request logs, authentication events and anti-abuse signals processed by MovieWall or its infrastructure providers.
- On-device data: preferences and recent search history stored locally on your device.
3. Data we do not request
MovieWall does not request access to your contacts, camera, photo library or precise device location. The Country field is entered manually. MovieWall does not sell personal data, show advertising or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
4. How we use data
Where applicable, we rely on performing the service you requested, legitimate interests in operating and protecting MovieWall, consent where it is specifically requested, and compliance with legal obligations.
- Create and authenticate your account.
- Save your Wall, preferences, ratings and statistics across sessions.
- Provide movie discovery, search, recommendations, profiles, follows, Compare and Inspiration.
- Apply the visibility choices you select in Settings.
- Prevent spam, fraud, abuse and unauthorized access.
- Process profile reports and blocks, enforce the Community Guidelines and respond to support requests.
- Maintain, diagnose and improve reliability and performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of users and MovieWall.
5. What other MovieWall users can see
Your display name, username, MovieWall ID, bundled avatar and profile visibility are discoverable by signed-in MovieWall users unless either account blocks the other.
Your profile, Seen collection, Watchlist and Stats follow the sharing choices shown in Settings. Your short bio is shared only with accepted mutual follows. Unseen is always private. Blocking removes follow relationships and prevents both accounts from finding or viewing each other through the normal app experience.
6. Service providers and external services
We use carefully selected providers to operate MovieWall. They process data only for their respective service and under their own terms and privacy commitments.
- Supabase provides authentication, database, server functions, security logs and backend infrastructure.
- The Movie Database (TMDB) supplies movie information, artwork, cast, ratings, reviews and trailer metadata. Movie search or discovery requests may be sent through MovieWall's protected TMDB proxy.
- Cloudflare provides Turnstile security checks after repeated or suspicious login attempts.
- Resend delivers authentication, support and safety-report emails.
- Apple processes Sign in with Apple. If you open YouTube, TMDB or another external link, that service handles the visit under its own privacy policy.
7. Retention and account deletion
Account, profile, movie and social data are kept while your account is active. Security, delivery and diagnostic records are kept for limited periods appropriate to their purpose. Support and safety communications may be kept while needed to respond, investigate abuse, protect users or meet legal obligations.
You can permanently delete your complete MovieWall account in Settings under Danger zone. This removes the account and its associated profile, movie and social records from MovieWall's active systems. Limited records may remain temporarily in provider backups or where retention is required for security, dispute resolution or law.
Deleting the app does not delete your MovieWall account. Local app data can remain on the device until the app is removed or the account is deleted or signed out.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
You can edit profile information and sharing choices in the app, block other profiles and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a copy of your data, or withdraw consent.
Send a request to info@moviewallapp.com. We may need to verify that the request relates to your account. You may also contact your local data-protection authority.
9. International processing and security
MovieWall and its providers may process data outside your country. Where required, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards are used. We use authentication, encrypted network connections, database access controls and row-level permissions to protect data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
MovieWall is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal data contrary to applicable law, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when MovieWall, its providers or legal requirements change. The current version and its update date will remain available in the app and on this page.
